Biographies
Mads
Damlund has
diplomas from The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music as organist and
pianist, with teachers prof. Hans Fagius, prof. Bine Bryndorf, Lasse
Ewerlöff and Bohumila Jedlickova. He has also studied one year at
Conservatoire Nationale Supérieure de Musique, Lyon. He
made his debut in 2006, with an organrecital including music by
Buxtehude, Ligeti and Carl Nielsen, also featuring The Danish
National Childrens Choir. He has performed as soloist and festivals
in France, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Norway, and in TV and
Radiobroadcasts. In 2006 he performed a concert series of Buxthudes
organ works, and in 2012 all of Johann Sebastian Bachs organ music.
Of several recordings can be mentioned Bachs Goldbergvariations on
the Garrison Church baroque organ, organ- and chambermusic by
Buxtehude, as well as several recordings with choirs. Beside playing
the organ, Mads Damlund plays the clavichord, and has a small
collection of instruments. He is organist at Jaegersborg Church, near
Copenhagen, housing a famous Marcussen organ from 1944.
Heli
Kantola
started her studied in music at the Music School of Lapland. She
continued her studies on a professional at Lahti University of
Applied Science, becoming a piano teacher. After that she studied at
the Conservatory of Rotterdam. She graduated in 2006 majoring in
classical piano with prof. Aquilles Delle Vigne. Her deep interest in
historical keyboards led her to the Royal Conservatory of Hague,
where she specialized in performance practices of the fortapiano at
the Early Music department. She graduated from the class of Bart van
Oort and Stanley Hoogland. Currently she is studying to be a church
musician at Sibelius Academy. She is specializing in organ, which she
studies with Olli Porthan. She has studied the clavichord with Pekka
Vapaavuori. Kantola has performed in solo recitals and as chamber
musician in several countries. She works regularly as church musician
in different congregations. Teaching music and piano are an important
source of inspiration for her.
